Why I Volunteer at the Pride Center:
I enjoy being with people. I can be involved and give something back to
the community. Besides it's fun!Yvonne's Volunteer Testimonial:
My father gave me some gifts which I still have today. He taught me, as
did his mother and grandmother about the
wonders
of giving. Charity is not simple, for if done right the giver receives
more than they give away. This is true of money - the easy way to give -
but more so even when one gives time. The true miracle which he passed
on to me was from his grandma who taught her daughter, who taught her
son who in turn taught me - how to receive - for it is in giving that
one really learns how to receive!
I have been fortunate
in my life and following the family heritage I have shared my good
fortune. Now circumstances have provided me with an opportunity -
more time and less money! I have participated as a volunteer at the
Pride Center. I hope that what I have done has helped PCWNY and the
people who come here. The wonder is what I have received: I have learned
many things, I have met new and interesting people, I have expanded my
horizons, I have become part of the community in WNY, most importantly
my efforts here have helped me gain peace.
There are
many things to do at PCWNY. No matter what your skills might be, they
can be used here! There are opportunities to learn something completely
new
– to do something you have never tried before! The greatest thing is
that volunteering at PCWNY is FUN!
