ESPA Buffalo Brunch to Honor Local Activists
The Empire State Pride Agenda’s Eighth Annual Buffalo Brunch will take place on Sunday, April 25, at noon in the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Buffalo.
“The Buffalo Brunch is truly one of the premier events to recognize and celebrate gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people, their friends and families,” event chair Jeff Platt said.
The event will feature presentations of awards to local activists in the LGBT communities. The Buffalo Brunch’s individual honor will go to Madeline Davis for her work in the community. Davis is the director of the Buffalo GLBT Archives.
ESPA’s organization honor goes to Pride Buffalo, Inc., a group that was established in 1999 and has since been responsible for the annual pride celebration events in Western New York.
“Madeline is a local legend, and Pride Buffalo is a significant proponent for the local LGBT community,” Platt said.
A presentation by the Pride Agenda’s new Executive Director Alan Van Capelle will follow. Daniel O’Donnell, a newly elected New York State Assemblymember and the brother of comedian Rosie O’Donnell, will give the keynote address.
The Pride Center of Western New York will host a table at the brunch. Tickets are $40.
