Wigstock 2004

Wigs to Bop (Again) at Wigstock

Wigstock, the hair-raising dragapalooza that refuses to curl up and dye, is scheduled to whoopie-cushion Manhattan into (/spacer.gif) oblivion on

Sat. August 21, 2004
5:00 - 7:00
Tompkins Square Park (Ave. A B, 7th 10th Streets)

Founder, organizer and host, superstar drag comedienne, Lady Bunny has once again brings her freak-a-thon of a festival to its original stomping (clomping?) grounds, Tompkins Square Park. Confirmed is an amazing line-up. RuPaul, Boy George, Jackie Beat, HRH Princess Diandra, Miss Guy, Sugga Pie Koko, The Ladies of Lips, Milan, Cashetta, Flotilla Debarge, Lily of the Valley and dozens of other freaks who will be squeezed into an action-packed, wig-tossing, nail-waving, support hose-stretching perhaps wheezing, intermission-free 2-hour extravaganza!

Says Bunny, "Last year's show was an absolute panic! The weather was gorgeous, there was a huge turn-out and the air was thick with that old school East Village vibe. For years people have griped, 'Wigstock was better when it was in Tompkins Square Park and it was free.' Well, quit your whining, bitches, cuz it's back in Tompkins Square and it is totally free! So I guess if I don't see you there I guess it'll be you that's tired, not Wigstock, Miss Gurl!"

Wigstock, which began in the Tompkins Square bandshell one drunken night in 1985, is now a Downtown institution and has attained legendary status. It has has been the subject of a full-length feature film, "Wigstock: The Movie" (Samuel Goldwyn, 1995), been profiled on CNN, MTV News, BBC Television and featured in such publications as Vanity Fair, Newsweek and The Village Voice.

Wigstock is part of the second annual Howl! Festival.
