HOLDSHOUSE TO ANNOUNCE
NG OF NEW PRIDE CENTER

BUFFALO, NY, November 7, 2003 - - On Monday, November 10, the Gay and Lesbian Coalition Western New York will hold anHouse for its new Pride Center. The event will begin at 4:30 PM, with a news conference kicked off by New York State Assemblyman, Sam Hoyt. The media is cordially invited to attend.

The Pride Center, located at 18 Trinity Place in Buffalo, is made possible by a $100,000 grant from the New York State Department of Health and other generous state funding. Serving all counties in Western New York, the Center represents the first centrally focused entity for the region’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered (LGBT) communities in over 25 years.

Joining the Coalition at theHouse will be many local leaders and the Center’s newly appointed Director, Jim Ver Steeg. Jim comes to the Pride Center from the Gay Alliance of the Genesee Valley in Rochester where he served as Community Relations Director.

“This is a wonderful opportunity,” said Ver Steeg, “Western New York’s LGBT community needs and deserves a focused and unified presence in order to provide representation, communication and support on issues important to us as a population.”
