Buffalo, NY, February 2, 2005 - - It’s estimated that 24,000 gay and
bisexual men will become infected in the United States with HIV this
year. Nearly HALF of those new infections will be directly related to

Those figures, revealed by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) are
just a part of the epidemic sweeping through communities nationwide.
“This is not just a ‘gay problem,’” said Pride Center Executive
Director, Jim Ver Steeg, “The crystal meth epidemic is everywhere and
its addiction does not discriminate.”
Joining the Pride Center at its February 4th News Conference will be:
* Erie County Sheriff, Patrick Gallivan
* Rural/Metro Spokesman, Steve Beauchamp
* Buffalo’s Assistant Director for Substance Abuse, Jesse Carmicheal
* AIDS Community Services Counselor, Jose Fuentes
* Crystal meth and HIV/AIDS survivor, Steven Natale
