Volunteers Come Out to Help Pride Center
A crop of new volunteers spent several hours at the Pride Center Volunteer Orientation learning how they can make a difference in Western New York’s LGBT community.
Nine volunteers were in attendance on February 21 for the first of several orientation sessions.
The committed community members heard from representatives from HealthforAll and AIDS Family Services, and learned about the workings of the Pride Center from Program Coordinator Jaime Seba.
“It’s wonderful to see this level of interest from the community,” Seba said. “We’re looking forward to working with each of these new volunteers as the Pride Center continues to expand its programs and services.”
Volunteers assist with everything from answering phones and providing callers with information and referrals to assisting with website content and running programs.
“This center will really help energize the local LGBT community,” volunteer Todd Warfield said. “It's wonderful to be involved at this most important time, with LGBT issues taking center stage in the national arena.”
Another Volunteer Orientation is planned for April. Register online or e-mail volunteers for more information.
