PRIDE CENTER HOLDS FIRST AWARDS LUNCHEON
Buffalo, NY, May 18, 2004 - - The Pride Center of Western New York is
proud to announce its First Annual Community Awards Luncheon. The event
will be held Thursday, May 20 at the Sphere Entertainment Complex, with
the program beginning at 12:00 noon.
Designed to recognize leaders in Western New York’s gay, lesbian,
bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities, the first Pride Center
Community Service Award will go to Dr. Ross Hewitt, who is not only a
tireless volunteer, but also a leading AIDS research and treatment
physician in our area.
As Dr. Hewitt will soon be leaving our area to pursue a new career in
Manhattan, the theme of the luncheon will be “Give My Regards To
Broadway.”
The program will also include an update on several important issues
facing Western New York’s LGBT communities from Master of Ceremonies,
James Ver Steeg. Highlights of his presentation will include updates on
the fight for equal marriage rights and a call to action for members of
the community, our allies and friends. Jim will also present an overview
of the many important programs specially designed for Western New York’s
gay community offered through the Pride Center.
